DEEP QUESTIONS May 2021: BY FM Lucky Mathebula


1. What is the possibility that some of the leaders we have, became ANC members because of their dislike or hatred of apartheid, but they do not necessarily like to be ANC members as persons

2. Are all members of the ANC it’s members because of what it stands for, or what it stood against, or what they can get out of it?

3. Can the ANC be classified as a formal political party or a conglomeration of formation types whose direction depends on who leads it and/or who buys it?

4. If the ANC is a Nationalist Movement, what is Nationalist about it, if it is not, what is it then?

5. Assuming there is an ideology that glues ANC members, what is it? How does it inform its day to day operations? 

6. Can the ANC NEC genuinely claim it is dealing with corruption?

7. Was there ever a New Dawn, post NASREC 2017? Or was NASREC indeed a Rand Easter Show Venue resembling the Emperor's Palace Gambling Venue?

Farewell, Comrade Bra Squire, a larger-than-life figure in our memories: LITERALLY OR OTHERWISE

It’s not the reality of Cde Squire's passing that makes us feel this way. It is the lens we are going to use to get to grips with life without him that we should contend with. A literally larger-than-life individual who had one of the most stable and rarest internal loci of control has left us. The thief that death is has struck again.  Reading the notice with his picture on it made me feel like I could ask him, "O ya kae grootman, re sa go nyaka hierso." In that moment, I also heard him say, "My Bla, mfanakithi, comrade lucky, ere ko khutsa, mmele ga o sa kgona." Celebrating a life..thank you Lord for the past six decades.

Standing on the threshold of my seventh decade, I am grateful for the divine guidance that has shaped my life. I am humbled by the Lord’s work through me, and I cherish the opportunity He has given me to make even the smallest impact on this world.  Celebrating His glory through my life and the lives He has allowed me to touch is the greatest lesson I have learnt.
